I was just wanting to give you a little update on my artwork and some insight about a shift that's taking place there. 

In addition, for the first time I am wanting to do a giveaway.  (See below for more info.)

Back to my artwork...  This is a new piece entitled 'Harmony'.  I'm loving the combo of elements in this painting.  The colours are luminous too!

It's funny how things evolve don't you think?  You have to get that little bit further ahead to make sense of the journey you have been on thus far sometimes.  Well, that is what I am finding with my artwork at the moment...

Things are coming together - there has been a shift... 

Drum roll...  I have decided not to paint in the facial features on the women in my work anymore.  For me the face is kind of irrelevant because it is just the fact that it is a woman that is important.  The paintings are about you, me, your sister, best friend etc.  It's not trying to be anyone in particular...

I love bright, vibrant colours and this continues with this new style of painting.  I also love nature and wanted to include some detailed paintings within the context of the painting as a whole.  Flowers are another love of mine, so you will be seeing more of them pop up too!  The figure in the painting above has a semi-abstract feel to her shape and hair and this feels very freeing for me to paint in this way.  'Reawakening' is available here for purchase.  (Prints will be offered too).

I think this style really sings to me because I recognise in myself two personality traits if you like.  On the one hand I am quite organised, neat, some may say anal about some stuff.  However, I also have a side to me that is spontaneous, fun and intuitive. 

I see clearly, the two sides of my personality in the paintings!  Do you see what I mean?  It feels good, soulful and releasing to paint this way. 

At the moment, I am very interested in folklore, ancient storytelling, Native American books and this I think is kind of reflected in my new artwork.

FREE Art Poster - Making Peace With Your Body.... + audio

Hello - I hope this finds you well and enjoying your Monday...

Women and their bodies...

This topic has been on my mind a lot lately and so I decided to share with you my thoughts on this. Also, my last few coaching clients have been wanting to tackle this very problem too - so I thought it was timely...

Body image is a problem for many women...This is nothing new unfortunately. 

We are bombarded with images from the media as to how women 'should' look and how to 'achieve' this look.  It can become overwhelming and if we don't feel we add up to the images we see all around us, it slowly starts to become more and more upsetting and even depressing for some women. 

Research and body trends show that on average only 1% of the female population will achieve this 'look' anyway!

So, I thought us women could do with some tlc and loving, nurturing wisdom, in order to help us on our journey called Life and our sacred relationship with our bodies:

Nature's bounty this Autumn...

I relish Autumn...

I love going for walks with my little diva dog, Mia and losing myself in Mother Nature.

I find it very calming, peaceful and it just clears my mind.  When I walk, ideas for paintings, projects etc. always come to mind - so, great for creative brainstorming.  Mia however gets fed up with me because I am always stopping to take photos, or to pick up little goodies that I find to bring home with us. 

This year, I decided to make a little display of my Autumn finds and so the video below is all about that. 

 

I wanted to make a point of honouring this change of season and thought this a wonderful way to go about it.  I have used an old vintage plate that I love with a candle in the centre.  The candle is lit at family meal times to remind us all of this beautiful season and how lucky we are to live in such a land of plenty.  I have also taken to lighting the candle just before I start to write in my journal - its a nice grounding ritual that I am enjoying. 

Of course my display is small because its just on our dining table handy for lighting at meal times.  Of course, you could make it any size you wanted.  You could also make an autumn altar, which would be beautiful. 

Just have fun gathering your finds and then display them however feels right for you Dearest. Be elaborate or not - its all good.

My boys have really enjoyed this process too - they have their own little displays of treasures found on our walks together.
